Marx believed that over a long period of time, the proletariat (working class) would take over a government. Communism believed that in order for that to happen, there would need to be a strong leader to guide the proletariat group which would only result in a conflict or war.

It caused some people to realize that the Capitalist System at that time took unfair advantage of the workers by paying them low wages and working them long hours in unsafe conditions to control and dehumanize them; so they became just another raw material of the factory. Evils included child labor and termination without cause, and no compensation if injured on the job.
