  • the threat of the anihilation of humanity was reduced, and perhaps eliminated for a time.
  • Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania regained their independence.
  • Belarus, Ukraine, Moldavia, Georgia and other former Soviet republics bacel independent states.
  • Russia became a capitolist oligarchy
  • Several formerly east-block states joined NATO, including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvioa, Lithuania, Romania, slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, and Coratia
  • The so-called Arab Spring was able to happen
  • Russia withdrew from Afganistan
  • The 9/11 atrocities, organized ffrom Afganistan, were able to be comitted and the wars US military activity in Afganistan and Iraq happened.
  • Millions of Jews fled the former Soviet Union to live in Israel, Western Europe or the United States.
