∙ 11y agoTyler was a failure as a party leader. He probably should not accepted the Whig nomination, but then, again, he never expected to be President. His veto of the bank bill , which he did according to his own conscience, I believe, was viewed as a betrayal by his party. Most of his cabinet resigned in protest and he really could not govern after that.
