Trained security personnel and security turnstiles have been added to entrances to the building as a first line of defense. Strategically placed HD surveillance cameras and doors requiring ID cards to be swiped before entry provides second and third lines of defenses. Concrete barriers and heavy planters are in place along with vehicle identification and screening technology so vehicles are monitored and can no longer come and go freely. Biometrics are the next step (e.g. fingerprint, handprint, iris scanner, etc.) but have not yet been implemented at this time.

October 7th 2001, because of the world trade center terrorist attack.
The Port Authority decided to privatize the World Trade Center, leasing the buildings to a private company to manage, and awarded the lease to Silverstein Properties in July 2001.
In the 1993 World Trade Center attack, terrorists used explosive devices inside the Trade Center. No one took this warning that something similar or worse may happen in the future. With 50k people in the WTC, there were no BASE jumping enthusiasts than had a parachute under there desk when the planes crashed into the towers in 2001.In the 1993 World Trade bombing, no planes were used during the attack. The attack involving planes was September 11, 2001.
During the World Trade Center tragedy, parachutes could not be used because the plane had been hijacked by terrorists who had crude weapons on board. How come no one in the towers had a parachute, after the 1993 tower bombing?

The bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993 did not have a large impact on us today. It was the September 11, 2001 destruction of the World Trade Centers that had a great impact, with laws like the Patriot Act. Basically, the freedoms that were once enjoyed in the United States are not as dominant as they once were.
