What was happening after World War II ended in 1945?

Many things happened after WW2. Different things happened in different countries but as I am from England I shall write about what happened to us.

Due to the fact that there were many deaths and injuries in WW2, households could not fully pay for medical treatments, mainly because of the recession that naturally comes after war. But, in 1948 a man called Aneurin Bevan created the NHS (National Health Service); this meant that all medical, dental, surgical and all round Health treatments were completely free. Everything was completely free until in 1952 when you then had to pay 1-shilling (5p) for a prescription.

As most people know, food and material rationing went on during the war. But what people don't know is that it finished in 1954, almost 10 years after WW2 ended. This is purely because of the recession that happened after the war and also the fact that many more men were returning home. Food rationing actually became a lot stricter after 1945, such as even a necessity like bread then became rationed.

One of the main things that happened after WW2 was that Nazi Germany was occupied as a defeated nation: Divided up between the Allies and the Soviet Union.

A lot of its top government officials and military officers were put on trail as war criminals.

Eventually the western part of Germany was untied as a free country.

Japan surrendered and was occupied by the U.S. It also lost part of it's land (islands) to the Soviet Union because they had entered the war days after the U.S. dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Japan.
