Ghana rose power in the A.D. 400s.It was located where several trade routes came together.Trade routes reached across the Sahara into North Africa and down to the Niger River to kingdoms in the rainforests.Some extended all the way too Africa's East coast. For traders meet,they had to pass through Ghana.It required a fee paid to Ghana's rulers.These taxes made Ghana rich. Sorry i made you read a whole paragraph for the answer
