Patrick was abducted and taken to Ireland as a boy where he worked as a shepherd. After a few years he was able to escape and return to England. He eventually went to Europe where be became a priest and, later, a bishop. Pope Celestine asked him to return to England and Ireland and evangelize the pagans living there.

Patrick is, in legend, the person who drove the snakes from Ireland. This was easy for him since snakes have never lived in Ireland, even in prehistoric times. However, the snakes are representative of the pagan Druid gods that he drove out of Ireland by converting the people to Christianity.

When Patrick was 16 years old he was taken as a slave to Ireland and forced to work as a shepherd until he managed to escape 6 years later. Later in life, after he had returned to Britain, he became a priest and was sent by Pope Celestine back to Ireland as a missionary and Bishop to convert the country to Christianity.
