Yes. As a child, Theodore Roosevelt always had dreams about keeping the nation safe. He wanted to keep special places like the Grand Canyon save forever. He wanted to do good for the environment. (:
Because pollution was getting worse. Forests were being cut down, grasslands were being plowed up, the buffalo was all but extinct and game was becoming scarce. The natural wonders were disappearing.
To quote Theodore Roosevelt himself, "There can be no greater issue than that of conservation in this country."
He favored both conservation and preservation. He also set up the most amazing national park the Adirondacks.
