The world of politics is a vast one. People in politics are either elected "politicians" or ones that are appointed by elected officeholders. Conflicts arise in politics because people have differing views on public policies, laws & law enforcement. It is natural for politics to have conflicts because the people who practice politics have different views.
Washington believed that a man was to be in office for the common good and when he no longer met that need he needed to retire from office. His views about democracy was that to maintain it people needed to be educated on how it works and that government was to serve the people not political parties.
