According to the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the core vaccines that all horses should receive at least once a year are Eastern and Western Equine Encephalytis, Tetanus, West Nile Virus and Rabies vaccines. There are many other types of vaccines that are recommended based upon the risk of contracting certain diseases due to the horse's use, age and environmental conditions. These risk based vaccines are Equine Herpes Virus (Rhino), Influenza, Strangles, Equine Viral Arteritis, Botulism, Potomac Horse Fevere, etc.

There is no one-size-fits-all vaccination protocol for horses. This is because age, geographic location, boarding/stabling situation and use of the horse all play a role in the risks for contracting disease. For this reason, vaccination plans should be made by consulting with your veterinarian about the specifics of your horse's situation.
There are certain core vaccines that all horses need, these include: Rabies, Tetanus, Eastern & Western Equine Encephalomyelitis, West Nile. Non core, Risk Based vaccines include: Anthrax, Botulism, Equine Herpesvirus, Influenza, Potomac Horse Fever, Strangles, Equine Viral Arteritis (Stallions), & Rotavirus (foals).
Some vaccine require a once a year booster like Rabies, Tetanus(or if injured after 6 months of initial vaccination), Botulism, Anthrax, Strangles.
Most of the others are to be done every 6 to 4 months, or as recommended by a equine Veterinarian.

Horses are notoriously robust animals, hence the expression "healthy as a horse".
A horse can have as big area for grazing just don't make it too small. I keep my horses in about 1-2 acres and my horse is healthy.
if its a really nice sunny day, Your horse should have its rug off and in the sun.A horse needs a couple of hours a day of sun to keep them healthy.

A healthy horse needs daily grooming, feeding and exersizing. All of these are important..... and if they don't your horse can become ill, injured, Hungary and bored
When a horse is participating in rigorous or demanding work, he should have at least the basics met including:foodwatershelterrestcompanionshipsufficient veterinary care to remain healthy
The phrase "healthy as a horse" is believed to come from America and the UK in the 1860s. Horses were believed to be very powerful and energetic, meaning that it would be good to be as healthy and energetic as a horse.
The reason a horse has to be healthy is because ... If you have a horse you probably want to ride it ,you cant if its ill . The vet bills are more expensive to a sick horse . You could go to court for animal cruelty if your horse has been neglected and end up with your horse being taken or a BIG fine.
so your horse get enough nutrients and it stays healthy :)
