I'm not sure if it's "normal" but it can happen. I saw my DR. about mine looking like this. Sometimes it would feel like I was trying to swallow past something. Turns out all of it was a side effect of my allergies. I have been taking Allegra D daily and my tonsils have shrunk back to size. See a Dr. for sure though.
