well you see, there isn't any thing that can actually get rid of it. there are, however, ways to make it better until it goes away.

1) throw up- it may not be enjoyable, but it will help get rid of the food that is causing your stomach to hurt. many people can force themselves to throw up by burping and pushing the stomach rapidly (eww... sorry its life). others, have to cause the gag reflex to kick in by putting their fingers on the back of their throat, but that is VERY unpleasant, and HIGHLY dangerous... make sure you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

2) HYDRATE- dehydration is a major symptom of food poisoning, especially if you are throwing up. be sure to drink PLENTY of water, and also a drink with electrolytes like Vitamin Water, or Gatorade.

3) eat minimal- be sure to eat, but not that much. eating too much while going through food poisoning can cause you to throw up it all up again.

4) DO NOT TAKE MEDS- unless directed by a doctor, DO NOT take meds such as Advil, peptobysmal, tums, etc. for you WILL throw them up and it will be a total waste of money, and it could even make your stomach hurt.

5) sleep- sleep is the body's best way of healing!

I hope this was helpful! but before i say good bye, make sure u actually have food poisoning, and not the stomach flu....

1) fever

2) throwing up

3) diarrhea

4) chills

5) stomach pain

6) weakness

7) body aches

AND, one last thing... go to the doctor if....

1) throw up or diarrhea has blood in it

2) fever is 101.5 F for a stable amount of time

3) severe abdominal pain

4) issues with swallowing

5) trouble breathing

6) inability to keep food or beverage down for 24 hours.

hope this was helpful, and get well soon!

Actually, cases of food poisoning are hardly ever fatal. Most cases resolve fairly quickly (within a few hours). Aside from scaring the victim due to forceful vomiting and explosive diarrhea and the conditions these may cause (dehydration and electrolyte abnormalities), common food poisoning is easily managed. It's important to know that common food poisoning is due to ingestion of a toxin embedded in a food. It is NOT an infection. It takes only a small amount of the toxin and a minimum of 4 hours (some experts say 6 hours) for the reaction to occur. Your immune system recognizes the substance as a serious toxin. This then sets off alarms throughout the gastrointestinal system causing it to expel virtually everything inside it. Since there are only two outlets, the result is violent vomiting and explosive diarrhea- often past the point where anything remains inside. Frequently, I've heard the victim say they think they will die and after the first time it hit me, I genuinely understand but that is certainly not the case. In practice, it really isn't a good idea to treat the ill effects of food poisoning except perhaps the dehydration and electrolyte replacement. Very little helps and even if it does, it delays expelling the toxin ultimately prolonging the suffering. Since the usual way for hydrating is temporarily unavailable, intravenous fluids are supplied. Electrolytes can be added to the intravenous fluids, as needed. So, to answer the question directly, it's is probably a good thing to go to your nearest ER for IV fluids but if your ER doctor is wise, don't really expect him to give you something to block throwing up or even something for the diarrhea. Perhaps the kindest gift would be a bedside toilet. You will recover much more quickly and be fortified to complain about his/her "lack of compassion". Just be sure to fill out the exit survey and read your discharge papers for any specific instructions.

Answer2:Have had food poisoning and it is AWFUL to say the least. If it is severe with the vomiting and diarrhea and you see blood seek medical attention right away. If not severe, just keep yourself very hydrated and NO solid foods. A nurse told me that the bacteria from the food poisioning will just feed on the solids and make matters worse. You could try cinnamon in tea which kills bacteria and alternative herbal products like olive leaf extract, oil of oregano or black walnut, but do your research first. Herbal products are not for everyone. Feel better.

Drink lots of warm liquids, such as tea, to kill the little bacteria. Avoid oily and greasy foods. Rest from 2-3 days until you stop vomiting and by the fourth day if its worse or doesn't get any better get an appointment with a doctor.

If you truly have food poisoning, you will be extremely miserable. You will quickly dehydrate yourself making yourself so weak that you can barely function. Some forms of food poisoning can be deadly. Please go to the ER now.

It depends on the illness. Food poisoning can come from viruses, parasites, bacteria or fungi, and symptoms vary from short-lived diarrhea and vomiting to paralysis in some shellfish-borne poisoning cases. If the poisoning is due to a food other than shellfish or mushrooms, then no medical attention is required. If you fall sick it is best to drink water and electrolyte fluids and eat bland, easily digestible foods. If you are experiencing fever or you don't recover within a few days, medical treatment should be sought.

Stay in bed and only drink clear liquids. Try to sleep most of the time. Or you can go to the doctor and get a medical checkup.
