We use a die of the proper size to cut threads on steel pipe. This pipe die can be turned by hand, or by machine. There are examples of this process in any good hardware or large home improvement store. They have pipe threaders on the premises, and they can thread most common pipe stock.

What does DN 63 mean?

Pipe is made of a wide variety of materials - like galvanized steel, black steel, copper, cast iron, concrete, and various plastics such as ABS, PVC, CPVC, polyethylene, polybutylene and more.Pipes are identified by "nominal" or "trade" names that are loosely related to the actual dimensions. For instance, a 2-inch galvanized steel pipe has an inside diameter of about 2 1/8 inches and an outside diameter of about 2 5/8 inches. In plumbing pipe size is referred to as nominal pipe size - NPS, or "Nominal Pipe Size". The metric equivalent is called DN or "diametre nominel". The metric designations conform to International Standards Organization (ISO) usage and apply to all plumbing, natural gas, heating oil, and miscellaneous piping used in buildings. The use of NPS does not conform to American Standard pipe designations where the term NPS means "National Pipe Thread Straight".

What is screw thread micrometer?

This is a tool that is used to measure the pitch diameter of a screw. This tool looks like a standard micrometer except that the anvils are specially configured to reach into the screw thread groove and touch the pitch diameter of the screw thread. The screw thread micrometer does not measure any other aspect of the screw thread. It does not measure the: pitch; threads-per-inch; major diameter; minor diameter; flank angles; lead; helix angle.

What is used to thread pipe?

It is called a Die. It looks like a nut that is used on a bolt. It is made from much harder steel and cuts the grooves in the pipe like the thread on a bolt. The same thing is used to cut the grooves on a bolt, a different size one for each size of pipe or bolt.

To protected pipe thread. Do not use as a pipe coupling. Thread don't taper and the wall is to thin and could crack.

Most plumbing codes consider them "thread protectors" and do not allow them to be used in a pressurized system because they are tapped straight through rather then tapered.

What stronge ss pipe or black pipe?

Carbon Steel pipe is stronger than stainless steel pipe as there is more iron in the carbon steel. However, the application depends on the purpose the pipe is being installed. Stainless is of course capable of being sanitized and therefore can be used for food and pharmaceutical uses. Carbon Steel (black pipe) is stronger and cheaper but not sanitary.
