It is anout 20 miles SW of the state's geographic center, while Columbus is about 25 miles NNE of the center of Ohio. Arkansas has the state capital (Little Rock) closest to the center of the state, less than 12 miles away.
Both do, more or less in the center of the states. Jefferson City is about 20 miles from the center of Missouri. Columbus is about 25 miles from the center of Ohio. Several other US states also have centralized capitals.

Of the five listed, the only state whose capital city is NOT in a central location is Wyoming. Cheyenne is in Laramie County, which is at the southeast corner of the state.
