The side you surf on depends on your personal preference. A great way to check is you stand with your feet together and have someone push you forward. Whatever foot you step with should be the foot that goes forward. If it is your left foot forward, you are considered regular. If it is your right foor forward you are considered goofy (dont take personally). This technique also works for skiing, wakeboarding, and Snowboarding.
