Manual calls for .012 for intake and exhaust with engine warm. I would go .010 on the exhaust and as low as .008 on the intake, factory lash is a little loose in most mechanics opinion. Set factory and it will be a little noisy, but its your call!
Yes the intake and exhaust valves have to be close.
According to the Haynes service manual, the COLD engine valve clearances should be: - Intake : 0.07 to 0.12 mm (0.003 to 0.005 inch) - Exhaust : 0.12 to 0.17 mm (0.005 to 0.007 inch)
If it is a solid lift cam, Then the valve specs will be written on the cam card that came with the cam. If it is a hydraulic lifter cam shaft then you adjust the valves like any other camshaft.
Generally the exhaust lash is more than the intake. The engine data plate should have the valve lash info stamped on it.
Intake....is shorter rod
Most auto parts stores should carry Dodge Diesel exhaust kits. There are also online retailers such as Amazon, eBay, Canadian Tire and Truck Champ that sell them.
the valve clearance should be set at .002 for the intake and the exhaust
Install an intake and exhaust. Stick with the TRD parts if you want to avoid and hard times from the dealership
Intake= .010" Exhaust=.020" This should be done on a cold engine.
It should be on the intake or exhaust manifold.
