Cleaning beaches is both good for your local status, your community and the environment overall. Plus, you can get volunteer hours for college if you sign up for certain programs in high school or elsewhere.

As of November 12, 2010 it is far from completely clean. The more noticeable blobs of oil that washed up on the beaches have been removed, but the clean up of the coastline and wetlands is continuing. The current clean up effort is huge. Vessels that were operating in the spill area must be decontaminated. See links.

The Sandals Foundation looks after conservation and clean-up projects on beaches in the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Jamaica. The foundation also concerns itself with community and education projects around the Sandals resorts.
They can clean up the oil of beaches with alot of hard work and we can resalt crystals in the sea to clear some oil. Oil will have to automatically go though! Good luck :)
