Bacteria were among the first organisms on Earth and their main purpose, besides starting a huge evolutionary tree eventually leading to the organisms present today, is to break down decayed organic matter. They're like the clean-up crew of the natural world.

anywhere you look! :) anywhere but it is invisable! Actually, not anywhere you look. You can't see bacteria with the naked eye.
