Hopefully the US public will always play a vital role in the creation, conduct and termination of any and all Military operations involving the United States. Wars are fought after all, not only in behalf of the people, but also in the name of We the People.
The role of the media is not to create public opinion, but to insure that citizens are an informed public, provided with the best available information on which to base their varied opinions. Support of a War is not a citizen's responsibility, but Support of the Troops should always be a citizen's obligation.
