Generally speaking, its a circle. Like a wedding ring, the roundnes of the ring is meant to symbolize 'forever', 'for always', 'for eternity'. A circle has no beginning or end, it is continuous and conveys a neverending devotion to someone or something.
Edit by Ross Gardner:
Not generally speaking of course, a more specific mathematical symbol, would be a lemniscate.
It has variation within its shape (as the dimensional plane of time has variables), and forms two parts (love being eternal in freely given, freely receive). Its placement of its centre, is an infinitely small point, showing the central position of the perspective, obviously not the locality in the universe. The circle itself suggests no true foundation to forever, as at its very core, what has started one way ends that way (which is untrue upon the vector). Begotten is the correct term for a circle, but is not the true symbol of the begotten.
A more precise form of the symbolism of a what has been described, is a horizon: it starts from a perspective of being unable to see the entire thing (unlike a circle), as well as understanding there is a below and above. This may not be a symbol in the sense of a simple polygon, but a circle is a disjointed object: it stands as a zero, which is a vortex. Even the 15th letter is on the corrupt part of the mathematical spectrum.
-footnote-
It shows inquisitiveness to sincerely find out about deeper meanings of symbols, but ultimately there are few that are completely compatible with a total definition of what they entail.
The infinity symbol (∞) is commonly used to represent forever or eternity. Additionally, a circle, which has no beginning or end, can also symbolize eternity or continuity.
