Christianity is just starting to grow in many s.e. asia areas and Buddhists are converting. A lot of the people in the area are still Buddhists and there is some amount of Muslims in some s.e. asia areas.
The term "Southeast Asia" might refer to these 11 countries:
Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Thailand and Vietnam are fully on the Asian mainland, while Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Phillipines, Singapore and East Timor are either fully or partially on islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Sometimes parts of India and Bangladesh are included in "Southeast Asia" and there are a number of small islands and overseas territories in the region.
The area is highly diverse religiously, although the single largest religion in the region is Islam (about 40% of the total), mostly Sunni. Due to its large overall population, there are more Muslims in Indonesia than in any other nation of the world. Malaysia and Brunei are also majority Muslim but each contain reasonably large non-Muslim populations (Christian, Buddhist and Hindu)
The largest religion in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Vietnam and Singapore is Buddhism, but again, there are plenty of Muslims, Christians and Hindus to be found here as well.
Most people in the Phillipines (80%) and East Timor (90%) are Roman Catholic with Islam as the second largest group.
There are many and varied religions in Southeast Asia depending on location or area. The Philippines is mainly Catholic whereas its Buddahism in Thailand. The main religions are Buddahism, Muslim, Hindu and Christianity.
