--the nerves being "smashed" as you said can lead to other problems as well. The nerves leaving your spine control or lead to other organs and parts of your body. I have a L4 L5 slipped disk and am having stomach issues as well. It can also makes you extremely tired, but sleepless. It can also change your general health, cause headaches. You may have numbness in legs buttocks arms etc. Sharp, stabbing, dull, tingly pain...various things can happen...and it does depend on where the slip disk is what the problems may be. Look up what nerves leave the disk that is slipped, and what they control.
