If it's electric, did you turn the power on before you filled it with water? If you did, you burned out the elements. If you filled it first, but did not bleed off the air in the tank with the T&P valve or by opening a faucet, you may have burned out only the top element. It may also have tripped the reset button on the upper thermostat, which can be found behind the top panel on the front of the heater. Take off the cover and press the red button on the thermostat to reset it.

Possibly , your controller s bad or wired / set incorrectly . Double check your connections ( all should be clean and tight ). If you can , check for voltage at the element ( new doesn't mean in working order , I have seen it a lot with overseas parts in my 25 years ) . Be safe , call a professional . Tom H . The fuel supply gas, or electric is not getting to the tank or possibly the wood fire under the tank has extinguished as you never said if the tank is gas or electric or oil or wood burning

Check the thermal buttons if it's electric, check thermocouple if it's gas.
