Neisseria meningitidis, a gram negative cocci is one of the most prevalent causes of meningitis. However, you should note that meningitis can be caused by other pathogens which penetrate the brain and cause swelling of the outermost brain layer. This leads to hemorrhaging.
There are three different types of causes...there is the MENINGOCOCUS which is most common because it carries a bacteria that causes MENINGOCOCCAL MENINGITIS which is the red/purple rash..then u get the STREPTOCOCCUS PNEUMONIA whch can cause death(PNEUMONIA MENINGITIS)..then there's STAPHYLOCOCCAL whch is known as a common HAEMOPHILUS INFLUENZA TYPE B also known as HIB it has been almost eradicated because of the HIB vaccine...I hope this isn't too much to remember I am in grade 10 n I remembered it only because I have studied it hard and focused...my advice to you is to stay away from your phone at times like these...GOODLUCK...:)
