Eggs are formed on the ovum of the hen and travel down the oviduct to the vent where they exit the chickens body. This takes a minimum of 24 hours each time. The vent of the chicken is a duel purpose orifice since both eggs and fecal matter are expelled from the same place. The vent is located under the tail of the bird.

Out of its vent, also called a cloaca, and that is where the feces comes from. Chickens have a single whole for both waste and reproductive material.

The cloaca or Vent. This is located just under the tail and is the duel organ for both eggs and defecation.

Eggs come from the reproductive system of the hen.

An egg starts in the ovary of the hen and travels down the oviduct as it forms, eventually exiting from the Vent under the tail.
