If a state did not like a law passed by Congress in the Articles of Confederation, it had the potential to simply ignore or refuse to comply with the law. The Articles of Confederation created a weak central government, which lacked the power to enforce laws or punish non-compliant states. This could lead to a breakdown of unity and cooperation among the states.
