It calls for atf. Didnt believe it till I saw it in the autopart stores manual. Dexron mercon II or III is what advance auto and everywhere else except auto zone they told me its n/a. What a part store :-P
A 5 speed (Mazda built) Manual transmission requires Mercon or Dextron II automatic trans fluid. A 4 speed requires 80w-90 gear lube.
There is no dipstick on a manual trans. there should be a drain plug and a fill plug on the side of the trans. To check the level you take out the fill plug and the fluid should come to the bottom of the hole.
on the first part of the 2 piece drive shaft LOL
The 1992 2.3L 5 Speed required Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid. That's right, you need to put ATF in the manual transmission.
Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid
Should be a plug at the side or the transmission - fill to this level
Up to the mark that says"full"on the dipstick.
Hi there, I have a 1992 Eagle Summit ES hatchback. I bought the car with the original manual book. The recommended trans fluid (automatic trans) is ATF type "F", this is because the A/T does not use "friction modifiers" that are in the common "dexron" Auto trans fluid used in most cars (ford, chev, etc). Use type "F" to keep your A/T shifting hard and gripping!
For a 1992 Ford Ranger , 2.3 liter four cylinder : The 5 speed manual transmission takes ( 2.8 U.S. quarts of MERCON automatic transmission fluid )
If you have the owners' manual, check it. If not, the 1992 Rangers' Mazda 5-speed manual transmission called for MERCON ATF..yes that's correct; Automatic Transmission fluid goes in the manual transmission. You can fill it through the Hex- bolt hole located on the driver's side of the unit near the middle.
On the trans.
It uses DEXTRON III automatic trans fluid.
