Blue Whales are Carnivores. Its favorite food is "Krill". An Adult blue whale can kill upto 40 million krill per day. They can eat nearly 3500 kilograms of krill in a single day. They need nearly 1.5 million kilocalories of energy per day and so, they nearly eat nonstop. Small fish, crustaceans and squids too get caught when they trap krill in their mouth.

They scoop up large quantities of water into their mouth along with krill and other small aquatic creatures and then filters and push the water out. All remaining animals are swallowed.

Shrimp and very very very tiny different fish. They eat many at a time Another answer: The Blue Whale's diet consists almost entirely of krill, which are tiny shrimplike crustaceans that can be found in all of the oceans of the world. They feed by lunging open-mouthed into dense groups of krill, and can consume as much as 4.5 tons in a day. Water and food rushing into the whale's pleated, expandable mouth is forced past hundreds of wide, black fringed baleen plates that hang from the roof of the mouth. The plates act like a sieve or comb, to trap the solid food inside the fringes and then expel the excess water. Sometimes blue whales will work in pairs, weaving through schools of krill, and using each other's bodies to block their prey from escaping.
