There isn't really anything that was unique about it. The reason that there is so much talk about Katrina is because of all the devastation that it caused. It sadly hit one of the poorer parts of the USA (New Orleans) making it that much harder for people to rebuild their homes and even lives. In my opinion it was just as "unique" as any other hurricane that are so strong and yet remarkable.
