Facet hypertrophy is when the spine's facet joints enlarge and degenerate causing stiffness, discomfort, pain, mobility issues, or hunched back. Unconvertebral hypertrophy is when the unconvertebral joints in the cervical spine develop osteophytes or bone spurs that can cause pain, compression, bone loss, or degeneration of discs.
