There is mountains in the northwest corner. That is 1 fourth the area. The middle of New Jersey is flat plain with good soil which is half the area. the other fourth is the southern part. It is swampt and there are some rivers running west to the coast. A major river is along the west to the coast. There are also a few small lakes in the west and in the south.
