slice off the top of the cork and use a corkscrew to pull out the remainder, however if the cork is crumbling, push the remainder into the bottle and use a strainer to catch t…he bits. Not elegant but who knows when it is in the glass

A champagne cork is made up of several pieces of cork, that are grounded and glued together, like the letter T. It is shaped like a regular cork, before it is put in the bottl…e. The mushroom shape that you see when you open it, is a result of expansion of the cork by contact with the wine. An analogy would be a sponge that expands.
Originally, it is done by a machine, but once you open the bottle, the cork cannot be put back in.
It comes from the history of Champagne. A monk Dom Perignon (also known as a Champagne made by Moet) was making wine and it kept exploding. He drank one of the unexploded bott…les that was fizzy and it is said that he called for the other monks saying "Come quickly, I'm tasting the Stars!" Thus champagne was related to the stars. When Champagne was first created they didnt have labels so to know which champagne was what you looked at the corks, one of the most famous women who ran a Champagne house used the star as the first symbol on her corks; Veuve Clicquot.
You can't. Even if someone shot it straight at you the most that would happen would be a bruise. They aren't heavy enough to kill.
You could get struck in the temple and it could kill you if it was being popped out of the bottle. It could plug your air pipe if you swallow it. The Starship Enterprise …could teleport it into your heart. That would be bad.
A champagne cork should not accidentally pop because it is usually fastened to the bottle with wire. Without the wire, or something similar, it could accidentally pop.
