Best Answer

$150-$250, depending on condition and the exact manufacturer.

check Cabelas for a new one. used ones are going to be going pretty cheap unless there in excelent condition even then you'll be lucky to get a $100. the 1858 Remington model has the top strap and is better if you plan on shooting it a lot, brass frames don't hold up well either.

If you're going target shooting or even using it for hunting, the brass frame will do just fine. I own five .44 cal. 1858 Remington New Army Revolvers, three brass frames with one being the Bison and two steel frames, and I paid $20.00 for a brass frame about 30 years ago and the rest I got within the last two years to present and paid $150.00 - $275. 00 each for them. You can get them at gun shows at around $150.00 for a good used one to $300.00 for a new one and even up to $600 + on a fancy engraved one. An original 1858 Remington will set you back around $600.00 +.

The best way to determine actual value is to search theon-line auctions, such aswww.gunbroker.com and www.auctionarms.com or even www.proxibid.com enter your details in the search and see what has SOLD and for how much. if there is nothing current try the archives of past sales or items sold. Another place to look is The blue book of modern black powder values available from www.midwayusa.com Don't forget condition has allot to do with value, so compare apples to apples and in this case the caliber and if the frame is brass or steel.

You can also search the archives and or sold items to get an idea of what your gun is selling for. That will give you an idea of the general value. Guns tend to have some regional value too, say a Thompson Center Seneca may be worth a bit more in the north east than in the mid west, and a Ruger old army may sell higher in the northwest than the east coast. Don't forget condition has allot to do with value, so compare apples to apples.

Also available to NRA members on - line for free at www.nragive.org That will give you an idea of the general value. Don't forget condition has allot to do with value, and with black powder the bore is king. You may have a gun worth for example $500, but the same gun with a bad or rusted bore may only be worth $150 so compare apples to apples.
