Best Answer

None of the Eisenhower dollar coins (1971-1978) made for general circulation have any silver and are worth more than face value. Only Proof and collectors coins with "S mintmarks (1971-1976) sold from the US Mint contain any silver, and that's just 40%.

Unfortunately only one of the of the Susan B. Anthony dollars made for general circulation is worth more than face value. The 1979 "P" Wide rim (near date) variety. Other than that only Proof and collectors coins sold from the US Mint are worth more.

NOTE: None of the S.B.A. coins were struck in silver.

The U.S. did not produce any gold coins from 1933 until 1986 (bullion only) a dollar coin dated 1978 is an EISENHOWER dollar. It may have been gold plated or just toned a gold color but it's not gold. This piece has no numismatic value and is just a dollar, unless someone wants it.

Please check your bill again and post a new, separate question with either the correct date or its country of origin. Neither the US nor Canada printed $2 bills dated 1978.

Between 10 cents and $1.80.

In the future, please add the condition of the coin so I can value it more precisely for you. *All values in US dollar.
