What is the true story behind the 1993 movie Schindler's List?

it's about a business man who saves the lives of about a thousand Jews from concentration camps. He found work for them in his business. He "risked" his life to help them by lying to the Germans and bribing them with all the money he had made previously by exploiting the Jews for their cheap labor. In reality, Schindler didn't actually make the list that contained the names of the Jews he was going to save in his factory, but he still did encourage it and helped see it through.

it was exceptional that Speilberg did much of the filming at the actual locations and did his best when it wasn't possible, for example he could only film in the stairway of the Schindler factory, the rest had to be re-created. The town square (in the ghetto) was not conducive to filming, so he used a square a couple of hundered metres away instead. The camp was no longer there (blocks of flat were built on half of it), so he had a replica built as close as possible.

But many of the detals were changed or left out to make a better story. Most of what his wife did was shown Schindler doing it himself, the ending was totally fabricated, it shows him leaving pennyless, when in actual fact he left with a car full of loot with his wife and his mistress.

Bare in mind that it is a motion picture, it was produced to make money, to appeal to as large an audience as possible, it was necessary to make various changes to suceed.
