The static UNIVERSE model (not a theory) holds that our Universe has been in gravitational balance for all eternity.

If general relativity correctly described gravitational interaction of matter -- and Einstein DEFINITELY believed in his model -- then the Universe would have to collapse into a singularity, a fact Einstein recognized almost immediately. He thus made this collapse disappear with a wave of his hand, saying the Universe contained a force (he called it the Cosmological Constant) that perfectly balanced against a collapse by gravity.

Jesuit priest George LeMaitre showed that our Universe did not need Einstein's CC if it were expanding -- an idea Einstein ridiculed. When Edwin Hubble showed that our Universe IS, indeed, expanding; Einstein admitted his CC was his "greatest blunder."

What is static electricity measured in?

I believe it is measured in watts. Static electricity is measured in volts. Most static electricity discharges are measured in Kilovolts. Lightning is measures in Megavolts.

How did albert Einstein change the way people think?

Prior to Einstein's 1905 papers, scientists assumed there was a static "space" against which all objects could have their position and velocity measured. Einstein showed this was incorrect, that one could only measure positon and velocity relative to some other object. Thus, it is impossible to determine absolute motion, only motion relative to another observor. This change in viewpoint showed that time and simultaneity also did not have absolute meaning, but were only measurable relative to some other event.

Why is it not advisable to use this pointer with static members?

It is not inadvisable, it is impossible. Static member methods do not have access to a this pointer since they are not associated with any instance. Static members are scoped to the class, not to an object (an instance of the class). Only instance members have access to the this pointer.

How does Eisenstein's theory of relativity support the Big Bang theory?

The Theory of Relativity was created by Einstein, not by Eisenstein. Comment: The most obvious thing is that Einstein's equations predicted that the Universe was not "static". So a "Big Bang", expanding Universe fits the theory.

What did many astronomers believe about galaxies in the 1920s?

Among other things, that they were static in space

How long ago did have the big bang the static universe and the genesis theorise been around?

The Big Bang was first proposed in the late 1920s by Jesuit priest Georges LeMaitre. The idea that our Universe has always existed in a static state has been around at least since the ancient Greeks. Einstein supported this idea explicitly in 1917. The Genesis Account has been around since the development of the stories in Genesis. It is impossible to date these exactly but, starting in the 1400s, writers FIRST proposed they were written by Moses. More recent scholarship places their writing closer to 600 BCE, although it is impossible to know how long they had previously existed as oral stories.

What do Isaac Newton and Christopher Columbus have in common?

Gravity by Newton and space/time by Einstein. Newton's clock on earth has the same force as Einstein's clock, but when Einstein's clock moves to the top of Everest mountain, it will have less force. By Amin Elsersawi Both Newton and Einstein admitted that there is gravity. The gravity of Newton was on Earth, and the gravity of Einstein was the cosmological constant. Einstein made a big mistake when he added the cosmological constant to compensate for his thought that the universe was static (stand still). The cosmological constant was an anti-gravity 'vacuum' force that kept gravity from pulling the universe in on itself. In conclusion, Newton was right, and Einstein was wrong in distinguishing the gravity.

A static discharge differs from an electric current discharge?

I believe this answer that each of these two are powered by different things.

What do the big bang theory have to do with Edwin hubble?

Edwin Hubble discovered that the light from all galaxies outside our Local Group are red-shifted, that the amount of red-shift is proportional to the distance to these galaxies, and that the amount of red shift is isotropic. All three of these undeniable facts of our Universe are impossible to explain with a Universe that is eternally static -- as suggested by Einstein -- but is consistent with a Universe that had, as Georges LeMaitre described it, a "day without a yesterday."

Is static electricity not really static?

Static electricity is static. It's just shortened.

Why main method is declared as public and static in java?

"public" is quite obvious - it must be accessible from outside. I am not quite sure about static; but I believe that is because the class is run directly, rather than creating an object based on the class.
