An NGO is any non-profit, voluntary citizens' group which is organized on a local, national or international level. Non-profit consumer watch dog agencies can protect the consumer from dangerous products from children's toys to foods to prescription drugs to motor vehicles. They can generate publicity about unscrupulous lenders, companies, manufacturers, and put the word out about government agencies that are not doing their jobs. They can bring class action suits that represent large numbers of consumers who have been harmed by a corporations bad practices.
