Depends on the airline and customs of the countries.

In short, the dog needs to have a 15 digit ISO microchip (134.2 kHz), a recent letter from the vet stating that they are healthy and have their shots are in order.

And a copy of their Rabies vaccine, with their Microchip numbers.

Dogs for a handler with an invisible condition may need a letter from their doctor prescribing the dog for medical treatment.

Most US dogs have a 9 digit Avid or 10 US ISO (125 kHz), the rest of the world and Canada use 134.2 kHz, which means the customs scanner may not be able to read a US dog chip.

You can rent/bring your own scanner to read your dogs chip for the customers officer, or you can get your dog double chip for the US and Europe.

Most service dog schools recommend double chip, one between the shoulders and the other in the rump. All vet papers should list the chips number so that they match the dogs chip when scanned.

If the customs officer can not scan your dog and match it to your papers, the dog may be forced in to quarantine or denied entry in to the country.
