helps the teacher educator in social issues in the teaching learning environment and assist them to relate well,professionally,ethically and morally. it also gives the teacher insight on how well to interact with the students and to understand their cultural background and social setup.when the teacher knows the social stratification they are in a position to understand students issues better and make the learning environment conducive.

The relation between sociology and education has always been a subject of debate. Education and sociology are mutually interrelated and interdependent disciplines. They are so closely intertwined and interconnected that their subject matter and method of study are often overlapped to a great extend. The following are the arguments to highlight the relationship between education and sociology:

  1. Sociology is the science of society and education in an implicit aspect of any social system.

  2. Sociology studies the structure and functions of social systems, while education is one of the important functions of any social system.

  3. The prime concern of sociology is socialized individuals while education is the process of socializing individuals.

  4. Education is the means for achieving the goals of sociology.

  5. Education is the laboratory and workshop of sociology.

  6. Sociology develops methods and techniques to be utilized by educational system to attain its goals.

  7. Sociology contributes greatly to the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of educational process.

  8. Sociology attempts to ascertain the functions performed by the educational system while education adopts the principles of sociology to improve its functioning.

  9. In the modern society, sociology generates the data base which is consumed by educational system to realize the goal of social life.

  10. Sociology develops laws and principles which are adopted by the educational system for its improvement.

  11. The ever cherishing social values are those attained through education.

  12. Sociology provides the principles and education practices them.

  13. Sociology put forth the ideals and values which education is to achieve.

  14. Education preserves the social and cultural heritage which is owned by sociology.

  15. Education brings about reforms and changes in the field of sociology.

Educational sociology helps educators to realize the importance of interaction with their students in different situations. All humans are social creatures, and it’s natural to interact with other people. The way we understand and treat one another predetermines how good our relationships will be.

It is concerned with general concepts such as society itself, culture, community, class, environment, socialization, accommodation, assimilation, cultural lag, and subculture. Status role and so forth. Emphasizing the function of the educational community in society. It is further involved in cases of education and social cases of education and social class, state, social force, cultural change, various problems of role structurer, and role analysis about the total system and MicroSociety of the school such as authority, selection and the organization of learning, streaming, curriculum and so forth

Educational sociology is that science which merely attempts to apply the innovated principles of sociology to the feild of education. It is branch of applied sociology. Whereas sociology of education is not applied branch , it is feild of specialization. It rather attempts to study directly education as a system of society & attempts to develop necessary principles and laws regarding education as a social system and its internal relationships within itself as well as its external relationships with other institutions of society. It is concerned with both the construction of a theory and its application. Educational sociology doesn't apply any principles evolved somewhere in the feild of sociology of education.
