I understand Newton's first law but I don't understand the question. Newton's first law says that, unless changed by an outside force, a body at rest (still) will remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion in the same direction and speed.

This describes inertia and momentum, respectively.

Newton's laws of Motion are Force Laws: F = ma,
1st is F=0, a=0;
2nd F-ma;
3rd Sum of F vectors = 0.

Simplified: The coefficient of dynamic (moving) friction, is derived from: > coefficient = force resisting motion (newtons) / force of object on surface (newtons)

How do newtons laws of motion apply to the motion of an animal such as a cat that is running?

Newtons Laws apply to the motion of an animal such as a cat that is running because an object at rest will remain at rest unless it is acted on by an unbalanced force. A cat running remains in motion until it becomes tired or it is stopped by another force.

Is it true that an object in motion at a constant velocity will change its motion only if a central force acts on it?

yes it is one of newtons laws of motion

What kind of fundamental relationship is defined by Newtons Laws of Motion?

The Conservation of Energy is the fundamental relationship of Newton's laws. This relation is the same as the sum of the forces is zero or the condition of Equilibrium.The second Law, F=ma, is a a relation between force , mass and acceleration.
