∙ 6y agoGoldfish are egg scatterers. The males drive/chase the females who dash amongst the plants close to the water surface scattering their sticky ova(eggs). The following males also scatter their milt (sperm) and so the ova become fertilized. The fertilized ova develop and remain stuck to the plants until the fry become free swimming. It is best to either collect the ova or remove the adult fish once spawning has finished. Otherwise the adults will devour any ova they can find.
