Canada is known for the largest population of polar bears. There are approximately 15,000 polar bears in northern Canada and each year between September and November they head north to the Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to freeze so they can hunt for seals. There is a town that is located where the Churchill River flows into the Hudson Bay called Churchill, Manitoba. Due to the high concentration of polar bear travelling near or through the city it has been deemed polar bear capital of the world.
