NO IT IS NOT ... THE TWO SONG SOUND NOTHING ALIKE. There is guitar and different vocals in the Verizon commercial. Guitar is not present whatsoever in that song, and the lyrics "whooah-ooh, whooah-ooh" are never sung.
The song is "The Sound (John M. Perkins Blues)" by Switchfoot on their album "Hello Hurricane." They are also the band shown.
