The console was also available in several limited addition colors including Platinum and Orange. Along with the systems release, and during the years following, several accessories were made available for the GameCube. Nintendo’s GameCube controller is a wing grip style controller including two analog sticks and a D-pad. When purchased separately, the controller comes in varying colors, including both common and limited addition colors and color combinations. Along with the standard controller, Nintendo also released the WaveBird controller. The WaveBird is a wireless controller that allows the user to play without the restrictions of a tethered controller. The GameCube has two slots on the front of the unit for use with external memory cards. A memory card is used during game play to save the player’s game progress. They come in a range of storage sizes and can be used to save information for individual games or multiple games. Nintendo released several different game accessories for specific game play on the GameCube. One specific game accessory is the microphone used with several Nintendo games, including Mario Party 7. Another game play accessory is the DK Bongos used with the Donkey Konga series of games. Other game accessories include the Logitech Speed Force Racing Wheel and the dance pad. Nintendo also released accessories to incorporate play between the Game Boy and the GameCube. The Game Boy Player enables the user to play Game Boy games using the GameCube controller and a television. The Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advanced Cable accessory is a cable line used to connect the Game Boy Advanced and the GameCube. Taking game play to the next level, Nintendo created a GameCube Broadband Adapter. Using the broadband adapter allows multiple players to play with, or against, each other using a Local Area Network connection. Players using the LAN connection can compete without having to share a television screen.
