The quote is both beautiful, but also bittersweet. Equating someone's presence with something so ephemeral, but yet also very fleeting. (for all music/beauty ends, and so must we!) There is also some deliberate ambiguity here as well, as one may read into this perhaps a bit more personally, that Eliot is saying someone (probably a woman) is beautiful to him but only in the present (or for a certain) moment, perhaps a clever also of saying "you are beautiful now, but also fickle." The best thing about great poetry is how many ways just one line may be read/understood.

What are the roots that clutch what branches grow. out of this stony rubbish you cannot say or guess for you only know?

This excerpt is from T.S. Eliot's poem "The Waste Land," which explores themes of desolation and decay in modern society. The lines suggest a sense of entrapment or stagnation, where the roots (past influences) restrict the growth of new branches (future possibilities), ultimately leading to a cycle of futility. The speaker conveys a sense of uncertainty and limitation in trying to understand or predict the outcome.
