My dear, my beloved (addressed to a female)
It's the French way of saying 'My love' or 'My heart'... It can be formal (especially in letters) or somewhat of a pet term used towards someone you love tenderly -or simply appreciate-, from a baby to a friend.
There are two different variations of the word.
If you are saying it to a male, then the correct word is "Mon Chéri".
If you are saying it to a female, the correct word is "Ma Cherie".
It basically means "My sweetheart" or "My darling".
Je t'aime ma chérie means I love you my darling (addressed to a woman)
The phrase 'ma cherie' means my darling. In the word-by-word translation, the possessive adjective 'ma' means 'my'. The noun 'cherie' means 'beloved, darling female'.
