No. There is a court process you can go through to allow you to legally move out before the age of 18, but really at seventeen and a half unless your life is literally in danger, you're probably better off just waiting the six months.
There are currently no laws in California that dictates what age a child has to be to be left home alone all night. It is up to the parents to decide that.
There would be nothing illegal about leaving a 17 year old alone overnight.

A child should never be left alone in a car at any age. The state of California, as well as all other US states, make this a crime punishable by jail time if a child is left in a car and dies.
12 California as the majority of states does not have established "home alone" laws. As difficult as it may be to understand the general criteria used when incidents are brought to the attention of investigators is; "Can this child take care of themselves?" and "Was the child left in a dangerous or unsuitable environment?" States that have "home alone" laws have made them so vague and difficult to enforce that the reality is, a child of any age can be left at home for any length of time and it is not against the law unless (until) the child is injured or worse.
It depends on your definition of child. Some nine year old individuals can be responsible when left alone. On the other hand there are 17 year old individuals that can't be left anywhere alone. Still, I am a firm believer that if you have to ask a question like this, your not ready to leave any child alone. All it takes is one disconnect for something to go terribly wrong.
I think it sould be mostly up to the parent but it should be when the child is mature enough to handle themselves and emergency situations. They should not be left home alone for too long the first time and go over the emergency procedures with your child. You may gradually increase the time alone if it is okay with the child. DO NOT LEAVE THE CHILD ALONE IF THEY DONT WANT TO BE LEFT HOME ALONE!!!!!
Its all up to you. if you think that your children are responsible enough, you can let them stay alone. but if you don't think that, I suggest not to leave them. in my opinion, I think that a child should only stay alone if you think that they are old enough.(about 6th grade and up).It is pretty vague Joe but there are several articles that state most children are capable of looking after themselves at age 10 With supervision at night
There is currently no law that dictates how old a child has to be before they can be left home alone all night. It is basically up to the parents to decide if their child is ready for that.

No. Not providing appropriate care and supervision for a child constitutes child endangerment, the basis of the factors that can be used to declare a parent unfit. It is unsafe for a child of twelve to be left alone all night. Perhaps the parent is working during the night and has few resources but they must make arrangements for the child to be under adult care and supervision during the night. A twelve year old child is not equipped to manage every crisis that could occur during the night such as fire, break in or medical emergencies.See the related link for factors used to declare a parent unfit.
No I was left alone at 10 with a 12 year old there is no law that you can't leave a child alone at home.
