It doesn't have a job in the human body, the fact that it is very large in grass eating animals suggests that it used to play a part in the digestion of cellulose (something we can't now digest which is why eating grass is not recommended!). We have evolved to not need it, which is why it is so small in humans compared to other omnivores.
As an aside, I've always suspected that it is a repository for carrots. Have you ever noticed that when you vomit there is always carrot in it, even if you've eaten no carrot for days... I reckon it is stored in the appendix until needed for vomiting. But that is just a vague theory and by no means fact!
According to the researchers, the appendix's job is to "reboot" the digestive system when that happens with the bacteria safely harbored in the appendix. Many doctors believe the appendix is a vestigial organ with no function and is no more than a blind ended tube connected to the cecum, from which it develops embryologically. x
Right now studies have shown that the appendix does not do anything.
There is new research that show several possiblefunctions (science hasn't figured it out yet) "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". we should just mark this one off as "study still in progress"
Read the new study from the Duke University Medical Center they seen to think it has a function.
Appendix is a vestigial organ i.e. (one that is present in reduced form and is functionless) and it doesnot has any function. in other animals like goat it works to digest grass.
The appendix has a small part to play in your immune system. People can live without it.
The appendix are located on the right side of the body.
The appendix is in the lower right abdomen, attached to the proximal end of the large intestine.
Appendix is.
the appendix has no function There was an article on the internet recently that said that scientists think that the function of the appendix is that it stores bacteria so that if one's system is cleared of all "good" bacteria, the appendix can then start a new supply of those necessary bacteria. If this is true, then the appendix DOES have a function.
An appendectomy is the removal of ones appendix?
The appendix are located on the right side of the body.
The appendix is in the lower right abdomen, attached to the proximal end of the large intestine.
Appendix as in a book end. "Anexo" Appendix as in a part of the body, "Apéndice"
My guess... If the appendix bursts, it is harmful to the body as the appendix contains many toxins and infections
The appendix is said to have no function in the human body, but it actually plays a small role in the lymphatic system.
Appendix is.
One.
A person may have to have their appendix removed if it becomes infected. If the appendix ruptures, the infection can spread throughout the body and cause major problems.
I hope that my appendix does not burst otherwise bacteria will spill into my body.
The appendix is located in the lower right quadrant of the abdominal cavity.
The appendix currently serves no useful function in the human body. It is believed that the appendix used to have a useful function, but over the years, the human body has evolved in such a way that the appendix is now extraneous tissue.
