Watch the Weather Channel. They are having a whole show on this very topic. Basically the Green House affect is the warming of the earth due to the reduction of the ozone As the earth's temperature rises it is causing major problems with plant and animal life. The artic ice is melting at an alarming rate and it is causing sea level to raise which means that some land below sea level is going under water. In addition, over time a shift in the ocean current could result in major weather pattern shifts and the desert could become an oasis and New York could become like the artic. Major shifts in weather can result in farm lands being bearen, animals become extinct and many other issues. Watch the weather channel for facts on this. The program runs frequently. I learned all of this just from the commercials they have been showing.

• global warming is basicly a byproduct of the Green House Gass effect. the greenhouse gas effect is when the suns heat is trapped on earth by polution in the atmosphere. when solar rays hit the earth they "bounce" of the earth's crust hence in summer the heat rays you see coming of the pavement. they then reverberate back towards space but with polution this is not as easy so heat gets trapped on earth. thus causing global warming

  The phenomenon is so named because earth's atmosphere acts like a greenhouse made of glass in which sunlight enters through transparent glass,
  but the heat released by plants in the form of infrared radiations is not allowed to escape.
  
  As a result of this , the temp. increasses inside the greenhouse.
  
  In a similar manner, sunlight enters earth's atmosphere and heats the surface of the earth.
  
  But certain gases present in the atmosphere trap the heat emitted by earth's surface & do not allow it to escape.
  This causes an increase in temp. of earth's atmosphere. This is known as Global Warming.
  
  The gases causing green house effect are called greenhouse gases. Carbon Dioxide, methane, ozone, and CFCs are the green house gases present in the atmosphere which are responsible for global warming.

The greenhouse effect is where the atmosphere allows in heat, but not out. As greenhouse gases increase, this causes global warming.

A greenhouse gas is any three atom (or larger) gas.

The greenhouse effect allows the planet to retain heat and support life. Without this ability we would all be dead.

Man is currently adding more greenhouse gas to our atmosphere, most of this is carbon dioxide which is causing additional warming.
