It can"t be that deep- as there have been seriious proposals for a Russia-Alaska vehicular (probably RR) tunnel as far back as the early years of the Last century- it was feasible in say l906. Cold-War politics effectively scuttled any project in this area.

The Bering Sea is actually quite shallow. It ranges from about 98 to 160 feet deep. At one time sea level was much lower and a land bridge existed between Russia and Alaska.
